Our Story

From one stall in Ipoh
to 60+ outlets nationwide.

Kopitiam Suria started in 1987 when Ah Heng set up a coffee stall along Jalan Sultan Iskandar in Ipoh. He roasted his own beans, pulled his own kopi, and toasted bread over a coal grill built from an old oil drum.

Today, over 60 franchise outlets operate under the Suria name — each required to follow the original recipe book and source from the same approved suppliers.

We have grown, but we have not changed. The kopi still takes six minutes. The bread is still charcoal-grilled. The eggs are still soft-boiled to order.

What We Stand For

The things we refuse to compromise on.

Thirty-seven years of doing it properly — no shortcuts taken, no recipes changed.

Old-School Brewing

Every cup is hand-pulled through a cotton sock filter — the same technique our founder used in Ipoh in 1987.

🔥

Charcoal Toasting

Our bread is grilled over real charcoal embers. The blistered crust is something no conveyor toaster can replicate.

🌾

Local Sourcing

Robusta beans from Pahang highlands, kampung eggs from farms within 150 km of each outlet.

🏮

Family Culture

Many franchisees are second-generation families who grew up eating here. We are tight-knit, not faceless.

What People Say

Regulars, bloggers, and franchise owners.

Honest words from the people who know us best.

I've been coming every morning for twelve years. The kopi hasn't changed and that's exactly the point.

Mr. Tan Beng HuatPenang — loyal customer since 2012

The wok hei on their Char Kway Teow is authentic. I've eaten at KL, JB, and Ipoh outlets — all consistent. That's rare.
